Fielder's Choice Acquires Trans Texas Tennis, Adding 40+ Years of Court Construction Expertise
Acquisition brings four decades of high-quality tennis and pickleball court experience trusted by architects, schools, municipalities, and general contractors
HOUSTON, TX – October 13, 2026 – Fielder’s Choice Sports Construction, a leading Austin and Houston-based provider of premium athletic field and facility construction services, announced today its acquisition of Trans Texas Tennis, a Houston-based specialist in tennis and other outdoor court construction, reconstruction, and resurfacing. Founded in 1985 and led by Jim Hawkins, Trans Texas Tennis has built more than 4,000 tennis, basketball, youth tennis, and pickleball courts for Division I universities, high schools, country clubs, parks, and private residences throughout Texas, the Midwest, and the Southeast. The transaction deepens Fielder’s Choice’s capabilities in the fast-growing racquet sports market.
Trans Texas Tennis, a pioneer in post-tensioned concrete construction systems that has been used on projects in more than 40 states and five countries, offers a full range of services, from design consultation and new construction to surfacing, fencing, lighting, equipment installation, and more. Jim Hawkins will continue to lead Trans Texas Tennis as its President.
"Trans Texas Tennis is exactly the kind of specialist we want at Fielder’s Choice," said CEO Sean Kincaid. "Their expertise and longstanding reputation with GCs, universities, schools, and municipalities deepens our existing court capabilities and relationships with a best-in-class team, and the acquisition comes as our school district, GC, and other partners increasingly look for a single-source provider for their entire project scope across fields, tracks, courts, and more. And with pickleball and tennis demand continuing to grow, the timing couldn't be better.”
"Fielder's Choice and Trans Texas Tennis have operated in the same Houston market for decades, I have a lot of respect for Jim and Trans Texas Tennis. Like Fielder’s Choice, Trans Texas Tennis is dedicated to being the best in the industry when it comes to quality work and customer service," said Tom Worthen, President of Fielder's Choice. "Bringing our teams together expands what we can offer our customers and positions us to pursue larger, multi-sport facility projects across Texas and beyond. We’re committed to preserving the craftsmanship and customer relationships Trans Texas Tennis has built since 1985, while giving the team the resources to take on even more work."
Jim Hawkins, President of Trans Texas Tennis, added, "For more than 40 years, our focus has been building courts that last. Joining Fielder's Choice gives our people and our customers a strong foundation for the future, and we're excited to be part of a company that shares our standards."
